Betty arrived On Tuesday while Barga was experiencing some atrocious weather - thunder lightning and torrential rain. In Pisa, however, the conditions were calmer, planes were more or less on time, and by the time we reached Barga, the tempest had subsided.
Today we drove up the valley of the Lima river, a tributary of the Serchio river and visited the village of Cutigliano which is about half an hour below Abetone, which is a popular skiing area in winter. Perhaps because of its proximity to Abetone, Cutiglione has several restaurants and shops.

| After an excellent lunch, outside the restaurant in Cutigliano |

| Outside the Palazzo del Capitano, with the crests of important families holding this position over the centuries |
 |
| Mountainous terrain looking towards Abetone, the crest of the Appenines, and, eventually, Modena on the Po plain |
