A trip to Bargecchia

We had a couple of really good days this week, so went for a short walk up at the tiny hamlet of Bargecchia, now much depopulated.  We did a quick shop in Pieve Fosciana, coffee in Castiglione then up to Bargecchia for a picnic lunch ...

(Including pics of some of Barbara's new friends from her three (!) Italian classes weekly.)

In "Fresco" supermarket, Pieve Fosciana

Loading the car ...

In the woods around Bargecchia

The campanile of the church in Bargecchia.
Inside the church.  The frame belongs to a 16th cent painting which was stolen in the 1970s.  Underneath the 16th century painting was found this previously hidden remnant of a fresco painted in 1514 - so all was not lost ...

With one of the (few) inhabitants - a fellow student/tutor in Barbara's Italian conversation class

Back home - with two of Barbara's fellow students
