On the way to Bologna

Heading back to UK for a few days, we went via Parma for lunch, then to Bologna for our flight to Edinburgh.  The weather had entirely changed for our trip, so we had splendid views from the train all the way.

Waiting for the train at Barga-Gallicano station

Rugged landscape scenes on the way up the Garfagnana

Parma - Duomo and Baptistry set in their quiet square

Parma - weird creatures carved in the beautiful pink Verona marble of the baptistry

Bologna - Barbara silhouetted against the beautiful tree in the main piazza

Bologna - the main piazza, with the Duomo to the left, and 14th cent Palazzo D'Accursio to the right
One of the two leaning towers of Bologna - hard to photograph!

  1. Barga railway station looks really bonnie. I thought I'd been but I didn't really recognise it. Bologna and Parma - How can there be so many beautiful cities in one small part of the world.
