Carnevale di Viareggio and a visit from Ian & Anne

On Saturday, we went to Lucca to meet Ian & Anne, who had flown in to Bologna.  After lunch we headed to Viareggio to see what the float-creators had been contemplating this year. The ton was busier than we've seen it, and the procession started later - at five o'clock - so there were some interesting light effects as the sun set, ad the floodlghts came on ...

Not all the crowd were as well-arrayed as this Mad Hatter and Alice

  2. So glad you made it out of Italy ok. I think your timing was perfect as a day later it might have been more difficult. Mind you, I can't think of a more beautiful place to be "trapped" than Barga..... We're thinking of you. Ian and Anne x
