Lucca, and the fires of Barga ...

On Thursday, we went in to Lucca to have a cycle round the wall in the sun - we haven't done so for ages it seems.  The wall was busy with people walking and running on this most excellent of public amenities.

The same day, at sunset, we espied a pall of smoke in the distance.  It turned out to be wildfires burning on the slopes of Monte Croce and surrounding hills.  The fires looked extensive, but the area is mostly grass-covered, rather than forested, so perhaps it wasn't a very serious situation.  No mention of it in the local online press anyway, which is presumably good news.

The Great Fire of Monte Croce
Next day, inspired by the fires of Monte Croce, we get down to burning off the large amount of olive prunings which have been waiting for dry weather since early January ...
