Firenze

After another week of disappointing weather, we headed to Florence yesterday, to see an exhibition of work by the Russian Natalia Goncharova, an avant-garde artist of the early 20th cent.  It was a fascinating exhibition and was joint curated with the Tate gallery.

This mouth-watering selection of big gelatos greet those arriving at the railway station - they have been there for some years - they're plastic!
Another familiar scene in Florence - the duomo, amid its ever-present crowds
A striking shop glimpsed on the way to the Strozzi palace
The artist - Natalia Goncharova, self portrait.  She also designed the wallpaper behind the picture

Winter work ...

Costume for the ballet Le Coq d'Or - it normally resides in Los Angeles

The Forest - which is normally to be found in the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh

  1. I wish I could say that I remember seeing the Forest by Natalia Goncharova but I cannot. Maybe I need to visit the gallery more often.
