We are still in the Dolomites, but today, we moved about 40 km south to Moena - a town of some significance to Orkney (of which more later).
We went over a couple of high passes, which presented spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Ski paraphernalia along the way - cable cars and ski lifts - testified to the huge importance of winter sports to this area.

| Yesterday: There are some beautiful light effects to be seen - this mountain, seen from our hotel, is bathed in light from the setting sun |
| Today: This mountain, called Sassalungo, loomed above us in Selva, but appears in a quite different shape when seen from the road to Moena |
| Marmolata, at 3343 m (11000 feet), is the highest in the Dolomites. Its name translates as marmalade - don't ask me why! |
| Some picturesque old chalets are seen along the way |
| ... as well as this one, painted and dressed as finely as a gypsy caravan |
